" Dream on little Broomstick Cowboy
of rocket ships and Mars
Of sunny days and Willie Mays
and choc'late candy bars.
Dream on, little Broomstick Cowboy
Dream while you can
of big green Frogs and Puppy dogs
and castles in the sand.
For, all too soon you'll awaken
Your toys will all be gone
Your broomstick horse will ride away
to find another home.
So dream on, little Broomstick Cowboy
Dream on while you can.
For soon, you'll be a dreadful thing:
My son, you'll be a man."

My History

I have been bitten once again by that old familiar bug!! I have been researching my family tree off and on for years. I have found that the internet is a wonderful tool for researching! I have reconnected and lost touch with several distant relatives! But I always end up getting stuck.. going nowhere.. getting frustrated and giving up.

I have found several resources lately that have really changed my methods of research, and of organizing my research once I actually find something that fits into my family line!

Family Roots: A Guide to Genealogy

The Desperate Genealogists Idea Book

If you're a beginning genealogist, or even if you're an old hand and still chipping away at those brick walls, I think you'll benefit from the information above! Good luck and happy hunting!

Winter Wonderland...

Our little corner of the world is covered in ice! The pine trees droop from its weight, but glisten in the sun. It makes for pretty scenery, but it has me worried about power outages. Our cell phones don't have service right now. There's predicted a second wave of winter weather for tonight. At least I'm getting to enjoy some quiet time in town. So that's a plus. I just miss being at home and I worry about Russ and Harold. Hopefully the weather will be cleared up in time for a nice weekend though!

Old Friends...

I recently had the pleasure of catching up with one of my very best friends from high school! It had been ages since we had spoken last and that was only a quick hello in passing. It was such a nice experience to catch up on everything that has happened in our lives. I feel like we have really reconnected again and I do hope that we will be able to stay in touch this time!

On Saturday, Mom and I went to the Peddler's Mall in Richmond. I bought a white pitcher and bowl and two cobalt blue bottles. We had a really good day.

The boys and I had a really good weekend. Nothing exciting! Just relaxing at home! We had some snow this morning, but nothing too major. Well, enough for them to cancel school tomorrow! But Russ doesn't mind! He loves a snow day! I drove into town this morning, and the roads were pretty clear, but I decided to stay in town tonight and not risk the overnight freeze!

I'm ready for winter to be over! But it's only January and the Kentucky winter has just begun!

Still trying to get back into the swing of things after the new year! I have a to do list that's about a mile long!

My mom's birthday is in a few days and I have no idea what to buy her! I'm taking off work the day of her birthday and we're going to go to Lexington. And we're having a nice birthday dinner at Rosie's house on Sunday. Which reminds me! I need to email my Uncle Rick and find out how his schedule is on Sunday! (Need to add that to the Never-Ending list!)

The weather forcast is calling for snow, so I stayed in town at Rosie's place tonight. Not going to chance crossing the mountains to get home. (I have a 40 minute commute!) Personally, I would love a snow day, but I want to take of Friday! And I can't have it both ways.

A Look Back...

We had a fabulous holiday season and we hope you did as well. I'd like to share some of my favorite Christmas things with you.

This skating rink and village has been with us forever! This was given to me by Harold on our very first Christmas as a couple! It is one of my favorite Christmas things and I will cherish it for many, many years to come!

This ornament was a gift from Harold this year! I saw it in the store and fell in love with it! I love the beautiful simplicity of it!

Vintage ornaments! Love them!

Our garland featuring applesauce / cinnamon gingerbread ornaments! It was so fun learning how to make those little guys!

Our tree. No theme here! Just full of all the things we love!

My favorite snowman!

40 Tips for a Better Life in 2009 & Forever

A friend of mine sent me the following email and it seems like good advice for anyone! I thought I'd share it here:

40 Tips for a Better Life in 2009 & Forever

14. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
15. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons will last a lifetime.
16. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out credit card.
17. Smile and laugh more. It will keep the energy vampires away.
18. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
20. Don't take yourself too seriously... no one else does!
21. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
22. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
23. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
24. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
25. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: "In five years, will this matter?"
26. Forgive everyone for everything.
27. What other people think of you is none of your business.
28. God heals almost everything.
29. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
30. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch!
31. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
32. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
33. The best is yet to come.
